A medium sized energy business had a requirement to understand its Microsoft estate in order to support business transformation activities. The firm had no specialist Software Asset Management resource in-house, but was confident that with expert coaching their IT Procurement Analyst would be able to provide the data they needed to plan the transformation at minimum cost whilst maintaining commercial confidentiality.
What did we do?
We worked with the IT Procurement Specialist supporting him to develop a project plan and to collaborate with technical teams globally to identify and deploy an appropriate discovery tool and validate the accuracy of the Microsoft Licensing Statement. We succeeded in preparing a very cost effective license position and provided recommendations that will support hundreds of thousands of ££s of cost avoidance over the next year as the business transforms.

An IT Asset Manager working within the UK Division of a large multi-national had no support network available or formal structure in place to manage and/or mitigate risk or issues. The corporate structure in place was operating as a block to the Asset Manager being able to make decisions or deliver recommendations and this had eroded her confidence and was leaving the business at risk.
What did we do?
We worked with the IT Asset Manager on a one to one basis supporting her to create a risk register and identify the appropriate internal escalation point to send it to on a monthly basis. We helped to structure her understanding of licensing issues and how to document them and she went on to deliver the risk register every month with all issues analysed correctly and with recommendations for mitigations. We built her confidence in her own capabilities and helped her gain a sense of the value of her role within the organisation which in turn reduced business risk and supported ongoing improvement.
