The Latest News from the UK SAM Networking Group

Many of you are aware I am the convenor of the #UK SAM Networking Group, and I thought it might be good to provide an insight into who we are and what we do to raise the profile of effective Software Asset Management.

The UK SAM Networking Group is a volunteer organisation which provides a forum for SAM practitioners to exchange information and keep up to date with the latest industry developments. We organise various events and conferences throughout the year, for both BCS members and non-members to attend.

Our last event held on the 19th February in London, featured two high profile guest speakers covering Mobile SAM and ethical considerations in the industry.

Alan Giles who heads up the Mobility Team at Snow Software covered the topical subject of software licensing on mobile devices, including invaluable advice on ensuring compliance and the benefits of Mobile SAM.

ALAN GILES          NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT

Andrew Harcourt, CEO & Management Consultant at SAMGarde led a discussion on the importance of independence and impartiality when proposing and selecting the right SAM tool and how to avoid being influenced by provider “offers” or “deals”.

ANDREW HARCOURT          SELLING SAM TOOLS

We always try and make sure there is plenty of time for networking and discussion, and provide a light supper including wine – it means discussions in the second session can get rather lively!
